Story: A poor family in Yorkshire, England is forced to sell the dog they love. Lassie is taken to Scotland, but she escapes and makes a long journey back to her family. This was the first of the Lassie film series.
Scenery: Two local scenes were used to represent the shoreline of Scotland. The first is a very brief shot of Cypress Cove at Point Lobos, merged with a matte painting of a castle on a hill, making the castle appear to be perched over the ocean. The second is a two minute segment of Lassie walking along local shores. It begins with a shot of her running down a road lined with cypress trees, and appears to be in Pebble Beach. It then shows Lassie walking along shoreline rocks in Pacific Grove and/or Pebble Beach. These are followed by a shot at Pescadero Point where Point Lobos can be seen in the background. The scene ends with a shot of Lassie on the south shore of Point Lobos.
