Turner & Hooch

Story: A neat-freak police detective takes into his home the only witness to a murder - an ugly, sloppy dog.

Scenery: Most of the exterior scenes were filmed in Pacific Grove. The building at the southeast corner of Lighthouse and Forest Avenues was used to represent city hall of the town called "Cypress Grove." The building on the opposite (northwest) corner was used as a church. Other scenes were shot along the Ocean View Boulevard and in residential areas.

Also of local interest: Originally the filmmakers planned to shoot in Carmel. Henry Winkler, one of the producers, spoke to an assembly of students at Carmel High School looking for extras. However, the city placed too many restrictions of filming, so Pacific Grove was chosen instead.
